John Witmer
John Witmer (’62 Arts & Letters) is the retired Senior Vice-President and General Counsel, DEKALB Genetics Corp., Dekalb, IL. DEKALB develops crop seed hybrids for sale to farmers worldwide. It is the #2 marketer of hybrid seed corn.
John began his career as a management analyst with the National Security Agency and then attended George Washington University, where he earned his law degree in 1969. He practiced law at Sidley and Austin before moving to DeKalb in 1978.
John and his wife, Arlene (’61 Arts & Letters) have endowed the Tara Leah Witmer Memorial Fund (at the Penn State College of Medicine), and the Arlene M and John H. Witmer, Jr. Scholarship in the College of Liberal Arts.
The Witmers reside in Old Lyme, CT and La Quinta, CA.
