- Beginning at 1pm on Thursday, September 13th and continuing to the following day, members of the Penn State community participated in a Marathon Reading of Joseph Heller's, "Catch-22," a book which had its early roots at Penn State. (Heller began writing the novel when he was teaching first-year composition at Penn State in the early 1950s.) The public reading, which sought to bring intellectual life more visibly into the public space of the University, was sponsored by the College of the Liberal Arts, along with the Department of English, the School of Languages and Literatures, the Paterno Fellows Program, the Center for American Literary Studies, and the Center for Democratic Deliberation. Below are some photos from the event.
