Welcome
to the second issue of Deluge, the undergraduate research journal
of Penn State University’s Department of English. Nationwide, increased
attention has been paid in recent years to undergraduate research in the
humanities, and the Department of English would like to highlight the kinds
of research its undergraduates undertake each year. Once again, we have
a selection of exceptional honors theses and research papers that have been
written, edited and published entirely by Penn State undergraduates. The first issue of Deluge was published in May of 2003 by myself and the rest of the students of Engl 297A, under the instruction and supervision of Mark Morrisson. This year, as Mark was not available to teach the class again, I took on the task myself.
