“The Refreshment of Revolutionary Mood,” a lecture by Jonathan Flatley

The Modernist Studies Workshop would like to invite you to a public lecture by Jonathan Flatley, associate professor of English (with emphases in modernism and cultural studies) at Wayne State University in Detroit and author of Affective Mapping: Melancholia and the Politics of Modernism (2008). His visit may be of interest to those in twentieth-century and contemporary studies, visual culture and art studies, queer and affect studies, and studies of politics in literature.

Professor Flatley will speak at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28, in 124 Sparks, where he will share some thoughts from his most recent work on black Leninism in a talk titled “The Refreshment of Revolutionary Mood.” Additionally, Professor Flatley will hold a work-in-progress workshop of the chapter “Andy Warhol’s Skin Problems,” from the book that will follow Affective Mapping; please contact Krista Quesenberry (kdq5001@psu.edu) or check the MSW ANGEL group for details about the workshop and the precirculated reading for Sunday, April 27.

We hope many of you will join us for Professor Flatley’s visit!
