Professional Bio

Akash Belsare is a dual-title Ph.D. candidate in English and African American and Diaspora Studies. His areas of interest include African American literature, Asian American literature, Latina/o literature, animal studies, feminist theory, and genre studies. He is specifically interested in how genre and folklore are utilized and marketed in American multiethnic contemporary literature. Akash previously served as the Managing Editor for Verge: Studies in Global Asias (UMN Press), a journal in Asian and Asian American Studies, headed by PSU Professor Tina Chen.
