Professional Bio

Andrew Maust has been a lecturer at Penn State since 2017. He teaches English 15 (Rhetoric and Composition), English 202D (Business Writing), and English 5 (Writing Tutorial).

Andrew was raised in Honduras and Ecuador and grew up speaking both English and Spanish. He holds a bachelor's in English and completed his MA in English at McNeese State University in the spring of 2016. Andrew Maust arrived at Penn State in the fall of 2017, and he has previously taught at McNeese State University and at SOWELA Technical Community College. He also worked at McNeese's Write to Excellence Center.

Andrew has presented papers at Sigma Tau Delta, NEMLA, and SCMLA. His research interests include digital rhetoric, pedagogy, comics and graphic novels, drama, Hispanic studies, and world literature. He has recently had pieces accepted for publication by The Raven's Perch, Defenestration Magazine, and MockingHeart Review. He also was awarded second place in the 2020 Wergle Flomp Humor Poetry contest.
