Professional Bio

I am a first-year MA student in English. My research is focused on 20th- and 21st-century American literature and pop culture, which I primarily examine through the lenses of narratology and aesthetics, exploring how artists' micro- and macro-level craft decisions relate to larger questions of gender and sexuality, trauma, and disability. In short, I am interested in both the line-by-line and structural mechanisms by which artists achieve their effects, and in the sociopolitical implications of those effects.

I also write fiction and creative nonfiction. My creative work has appeared most recently in One Story and The Apple Valley Review.
