Professional Bio

A member of the National Press Club and NABJ, Lisa Warren is a Lecturer in College of the Liberal Arts English Department at The Pennsylvania State University. She teaches/has taught Effective Writing: Business Writing; Effective Writing: Writing in the Social Sciences; Effective Writing: Humanities Writing; Rhetoric and Composition: English 15, AFAM 100 and Journalism: COMM 260W.
In 2016, Warren volunteered as assistant faculty adviser: Penn State Association of Journalists for Diversity, PSAJD of the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications; Volunteer faculty editor and designer of Cultural Expressions Newsletter, a publication by PSAJD of the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications.
Prior to teaching in higher education for more than a decade, Warren has worked full-time in seven newsrooms (including radio, television and newspapers) along the East Coast as a news reporter, special projects reporter, writing and editing expert; encapsulating a professional career spanning 15-plus years. Warren has taught news writing and editing courses for the Penn State College of Communications; now the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications (2008 to 2016). She taught English at Coastal Carolina University from 2003-2007 and joined the English Department Faculty at Penn State in 2013.
