Professional Bio

Robin Becker's most recent collection of poems, Tiger Heron, appeared in 2014 in the University of Pittsburgh Press Poetry Series. Her previous collections with U of Pitt Press include Domain of Perfect Affection (2006), The Horse Fair (2000), All-American Girl (1996) and Giacometti's Dog (1990.) Her books with Alice James Press include Backtalk and Personal Effects. Becker is a frequent contributor to the American Poetry Review and has had recent work featured on the Academy of American Poets Poem-A Day site as well as on Poetry Daily. She serves as Contributing and Poetry Editor for The Women's Review of Books where her column on the contemporary poetry scene, "Field Notes,"  appears regularly. Becker has received fellowships in poetry from the Radcliffe Institute at Harvard University, The Massachusetts Cultural Council and the National Endowment for the Arts. In 2000, she received the Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching from Penn State University and in  2010-2011 she served as  The Penn State Laureate.
