Professional Bio

Justin Mellette is a Ph.D. in English whose research interests focus on twentieth century American/African American literature, and Southern literature, particularly depictions of white racial anxiety. He has also served as a research assistant on the Hemingway Letters Project. He has taught multiple sections of freshman composition, including a course focusing on the rhetoric of sports and athletics, as well as business writing, advanced writing in the humanities, American comedy, and a course on comics. Additionally, he holds an open-minded fondness for barbecue and, in spite of his origins, South Carolina's mustard-based variation is not inherently his favorite.
