Professional Bio

Wil is an Extended Fixed-term Lecturer in the Program in Writing and Rhetoric (PWR), where he teaches courses in composition, rhetoric, and advanced writing. Wil began his Penn State career in 2002 as adjunct faculty at the Altoona College. In 2005, he was granted a full-time appointment at University Park.

Wil first began teaching while at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his M.A. in the Teaching of English. While at IUP, he taught undergraduate courses in writing and literature. After earning his M.A., Wil completed additional coursework at IUP in instructional design, multimedia, and adult education.

Outside of the Penn State system, Wil completed a three-year stint as an instructor at the University of Pittsburgh's Johnstown Campus, where he taught extensively in the Professional Writing Program. While at Pitt, Wil also played an integral role in revamping the Freshman Composition Survey and served as Web advisor to Backroads, the Creative Writing Program's literary magazine.

Wil's academic interests include visual and digital rhetorics, instructional design, composition theory, and critical theory.
