Department Visitors

Please read the information below to find out more information on the process and paperwork required when bringing a visitor to Penn State.

The following information is designed to allow you to personally coordinate with the visitor the items that he/she will need to provide to the department in order to be successfully compensated for his/her services rendered (i.e. travel expenses, honorarium payments).

PROCESS

1. Contact Shannon Dennison at least 2 weeks prior to the visit.

2. Submit the completed paperwork to Shannon Dennison at least 2 weeks prior to the visit by either hand-delivery or have the visitor fax the paperwork to Shannon directly at 814-863-7285. This deadline will ensure that payment for services rendered can be made in a timely manner.

PAPERWORK

The visa type of the individual will determine the type and intensity of the paperwork required.

If the individual is a United States citizen please have them complete the following paperwork:

  • Visitor's Information Sheet for Income and Travel
  • Determination of Independent Contractor/Employee Status form. This form is to be completed if the visitor will be receiving an Honorarium . This form is located outside of 102 Burrowes Building.
  • Travel Support Form . This form is to be completed if the visitor will be receiving travel expenses . This form is located outside of 102 Burrowes Building.

If the individual is a foreign national please reference the following:

  • Documentation Chart . This chart will provide knowledge on the specific paperwork and/or items that you will need to obtain from the visitor prior to their visit. Please keep in mind that coordinating foreign visitors is a complex process that requires extensive thought and paperwork prior to the actual visit.
