30 Below Contest—2017

30 Below Contest for young writers and artists between 18 and 30 years old is accepting submissions now through November 19, and we’re looking to publish and promote the best young authors we can find. Narrative regularly publishes masters such as Joyce Carol Oates, T. C. Boyle, and Sherman Alexie alongside young writers at the beginning of their careers. We were the first to publish work by writers such as Anthony Marra, Kyrs Lee, and Gabriel Tallent, and a vital part of our mission is to introduce new voices to our readers across the world. You can read the guidelines here, as well as last year’s contest winners. You can also read works by thirty young writers we published in the past year.
Narrative invites all writers, poets, visual artists, photographers, performers, and filmmakers between eighteen and thirty years old to send us their best work. We’re looking for the traditional and the innovative, the true and the imaginary. We’re looking to encourage and promote the best young authors and artists working today.

Awards: First Prize is $1,500, Second Prize is $750, Third Prize is $300, and ten finalists will receive $100 each. The prizewinners and finalists will be announced in Narrative.

All N30B entries are eligible for the $4,000 Narrative Prize for 2018 and for acceptance as a Story of the Week or Poem of the Week.
