What is Activist Literature?

Mann Assembly Room, Paterno Library Tuesday, February 27, 2018 3:30-5:00pm

Sunil Yapa's acclaimed debut novel Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of a Fist re-imagines the chaotic 1999 World Trade Organization protests that took place in Seattle.  Especially urgent in the wake of Charlottesville, this roundtable will investigate the novel's themes of activism, protest, and community.  It will feature invited panelists who will use the novel as a touchstone for a broader discussion about what makes a work of literature "activist". Following the panelists' opening statements, they will invite questions from the audience.
