Faith Montagnino

Professional Bio

Faith Montagnino is a first-year student in Penn State’s MA/PhD program in English. She primarily studies twentieth- and twenty-first-century American literature, with particular interests in feminist poetics, affect theory, embodiment, and confessional and post-confessional writing. More generally, her work interrogates the politics of emotion, feminist revisions of literary traditions, and gender.

Her other scholarship has considered Black feminist revisions of the American elegy, feminine anger and affect in Euripides’ Medea, proto-feminist literature and philosophy, and gender and power in contemporary drama. Her critical work has appeared in Discourse and The Journal of Undergraduate Research in the Humanities, and she has presented her research at conferences including the Sigma Tau Delta International Convention and the Association for Theatre in Higher Education Conference.

She is also a creative writer whose work spans poetry, creative nonfiction, fiction, and drama. Her writing has appeared in The Oakland Arts Review, The Albion Review, and Esprit.
