Professional Bio

In my position as Assistant Teaching Professor I teaching writing courses that focus on the development of critical thinking and critical reading. My classes take a discussion-based foundation that recognizes education as reciprocal - students and instructors learn and develop as a classroom community.

My research and teaching interests include working-class studies, American literature and film, Marxism and socioeconomic theory, gender studies, and cultural studies.

My scholarship can be found in Quarterly Review of Film and VideoThe Popular Culture Studies Journal, and Alphaville, and the collections Wrestling: Politics and Populism and Teaching Comic Texts: an MLA Options for Teaching Volume.

I earned my PhD in English with a secondary focus in Film and Media Arts from Louisiana State University in 2019.
