Professional Bio

Gabriel Green is a dual-title PhD candidate at Penn State University studying English and African American/African Diaspora Studies with a focus on rhetoric and composition. Gabriel’s dissertation research explores the broader qualities of poetry slam both as a rhetorical genre and as a community. Specifically, his dissertation examines the rhetorical aspects of slam as it relates to three concepts: kairos, ethos, and Burkean identification. In addition to his research interests, Gabriel has taught a number of different courses within the departments of English and African American Studies:
