Professional Bio

Joe Bueter studies intersections of technology, writing, and education. In his courses, he blends traditional and new technologies to develop constructivist learning environments. He has published poetry in The Southern Humanities Review, Vassar Review, Confrontation, Nashville Review, Poet Lore, Cave Wall, Cumberland River Review, Tar River Poetry, as well as other journals. He has also participated in the Joaquin Miller Cabin Poetry Series in Rock Creek Park, Washington, DC, and he has been a resident at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. As a former poetry editor of Ecotone and reader for Waccamaw Journal, Bueter has also helped produce literary journals.

Bueter is interested in technologies that help mediate hybrid physical-virtual learning experiences, in addition to the democratization of technical and artistic skills provided by Web 2.0s. He also leads the marketing and recruitment efforts of the English Department. He has presented at the national conference for the Association of Education Technologies and Communication, the Innovations in Teaching and Learning Conference at the University of Maryland, and Penn State's Teaching and Learning with Technology Symposium.
