Professional Bio
Katie Painter is a Graduate Fellow at Penn State University, specializing in American literature from the 19th century to the present.
Her current research looks at Black women writers’ use of genre and aesthetics as strategies for resistance and overcoming literary censorship. Katie’s research interests also include the 19th-century novel, women's writing, African American literature, religion, and print culture.
