Professional Bio
Pauline Menchavez is a Filipino American writer and educator from Orange County, California. Before joining the graduate program at Penn State, Pauline worked as a lecturer at Cal State Long Beach teaching courses in First-Year Composition and critical thinking. Her research concerns community-based pedagogies, literacy, memory, and identity-based writing. More recently, she is interested in how archipelagic epistemologies might offer a productive framework for reimagining writing pedagogy for the digitally transnational and diasporic nature of the classroom by highlighting reciprocity and participatory composition as foundational conditions of literacy.
