Quincy Schmechel

Professional Bio

Quincy Schmechel is a second-year student in Penn State's MA/PhD in English. She primarily studies Renaissance literature and has worked most extensively on the poetry of John Milton. Broadly, she is interested in the intersections of religion, science, and spirituality within Early Modern poetry; Christian hermeneutics in the literature of the Reformation; Medieval mysticism, hagiography, and devotional practices; book and textual history; material culture; humanism and theories of pedagogy; and metaphysical philosophy and poetry.

Creatively, her writing blends memoir and lyrical essay, working across disparate subjects to explore the impacts of memory and narrative on identity formation.
