Tempest Productions will premiere La Scaffetta: The Foundling Drawer, a verse play based on poems by Mary Rohrer-Dann and adapted for stage by Cynthia Mazzant. Featuring a cast of faculty, students, and community performers, the play incorporates poetry, song, and instrumental music.
Essential to any Grand Tour experience was the renowned “orphan-girl” orchestra & choir of Venice. La Scaffetta: the Foundling Drawer explores the lives of the cloistered women and girls of the Ospedale della Pieta through the story of a young violinist protégé of Antonio Vivaldi, composer-in-residence there.
There will be two shows, each beginning at 7:30pm, on Thursday, November 3rd and Friday, November 4th.
