Professional Bio
Chaunece Reed is a dual-titled PhD student in English and African American and Diaspora Studies. She is a Bunton-Waller Graduate Fellow, a 2024-2025 #DigBlk scholar for the Center of Black Digital Research, and a 2021-2023 UNCF/Mellon Mays Undergraduate Research Fellow.
Chaunece’s scholarly interests include digital humanities, 20th and 21st century African American literature, gender/sexuality and race studies. She is drawn to the relationship between racial capitalism and the manifestations of aid Black communities have curated in order to sustain themselves amidst. Further, she is interested in what rendered aid, in both formal and informal capacities, suggests about Black interiority and community valuation.
