Professional Bio
I am a fourth-year PhD candidate pursuing a dual title degree in English and African American and Diaspora Studies. My dissertation project, tentatively titled "Black Cosmo-cologies: Rebirth and Renaissance in the Long Nineteenth Century," considers how a terrestrial-oriented directionality might offer us an epistemological framework for thinking about the cosmological dimensions of Black ecologies. By bringing together the fields of Black Ecologies and nineteenth-century American literature, I hope to demonstrate the intertwined relationship between cosmologies and humanist understandings of the material/metaphysical.
